Does God answer all our prayers?

Based on my personal experience, I would say YES. God does answer all our prayers in the way that is best for us. I've had prayers answered almost in minutes after I've asked for help. I'm sure some of you may have experienced the same quick response. For sometime I was somewhat inclined to believe that everything could have been coincidental. However, with so many of my prayers answered almost instantaneously, it would be too ungrateful of me to dismiss them as pure coincidence.

Will you be ready when the next "Ondoy" comes along?

It’s been over a month since the destructive flood “Ondoy” brought so much misery to thousands of Metro Manila residents. Many are still in recovery mode - psychologically, emotionally & financially. By now you may have seen the most graphic videos posted on YouTube related to Ondoy’s wrath. I’ve seen videos of cars piling up one on top of the other, houses almost fully submerged in flood waters, stories of loved ones being swept away by strong current only to be recovered lifeless.

Things could have been much worst if the floods took place in the middle of the night, where darkness could greatly hamper one’s visibility & mobility. That would have been more chaotic & disorienting for people to escape the rising flood waters.

The question now is “Will you be ready when the next Ondoy comes along?”

If you live in places such as Provident Village in Marikina, Espana in Sampaloc, Navotas or Malabon where flooding is a common occurrence during the rainy season, a simple 9-volt electronic home-made flood alarm could come in very useful especially during the stormy nights. The alarm will trigger when it senses the rising of flood waters in your front yard or garage, thus giving you sufficient time to prepare, to assess the situation & to make the necessary action.

Provident Village, Marikina, Philippines

Why Provident Village in Marikina was one of the worst hit areas? This map shows you exactly why. The shaded area is where Provident Village is situated. Looking at this map you will see that the entire village is surrounded or enclosed within the "U shape" of the Marikina River. Thus when there is a heavy downpour, the water has nowhere to go but overflow into this area. Click on the image of the map to get a larger view.
